Wolfforth Takes First Steps Toward Future Mixed-Use Downtown

May 18, 2026

The Wolfforth Economic Development Corporation has officially closed on 46 acres of land, marking a historic step forward for the future of Wolfforth.

This property will serve as the foundation for Wolfforth’s first mixed-use development and the beginning steps toward creating the city’s first true downtown. The long-term vision is to create a place where residents, businesses, visitors, and future generations can gather, shop, dine, work, celebrate, and experience the heart of Wolfforth in a new way.

For many years, city leaders have talked about the importance of creating a true sense of place for Wolfforth. As the community continues to grow, this land purchase gives the city a rare opportunity to plan intentionally and shape future development in a way that reflects Wolfforth’s identity, values, and vision.

“The purchase of this land is a commitment to the citizens of Wolfforth to provide them a new downtown area and further our desire to give them something to be very proud of,” said Mayor Charles Addington.

The future mixed-use development is expected to include a blend of commercial, retail, dining, office, public gathering, and residential opportunities. While the project will take time and careful planning, the closing of the property represents a major first step in turning the vision into reality.

This historic purchase was made possible through the vision and leadership of Mayor Charles Addington, the Wolfforth City Council, City Manager Randy Criswell, City Secretary Terri Robinette, and the Wolfforth Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors.

“This is a historic day for Wolfforth,” said Danielle Sweat, Executive Director of the Wolfforth Economic Development Corporation. “Very few cities get the opportunity to thoughtfully create a downtown from the ground up. This is more than a land purchase. It is a chance to create a place that feels like Wolfforth, supports our businesses, improves quality of life, and gives our community a true gathering place.”

The future downtown development will also complement the City of Wolfforth’s work toward creating a civic campus nearby. Together, these efforts represent a transformational opportunity to establish a stronger community core and create a destination that serves residents, businesses, and visitors for generations to come.

The development of Wolfforth’s first downtown will be a long-term project. Future phases are expected to include planning, infrastructure, funding strategies, public input, and partnerships with developers and private investment.

The work ahead will take time, but today marks an important milestone for Wolfforth’s future.

Wolfforth is growing, and this project gives the community a rare opportunity to grow with purpose.
