City of Wolfforth Awards Bid for Alcove Avenue Construction
March 4, 2026
The City of Wolfforth took an important step toward improving local infrastructure and preparing for future growth during Monday night’s City Council meeting, awarding the construction contract for Alcove Avenue to Lonestar Dirt and Paving.
Construction on the new roadway is expected to begin in April 2026, with completion anticipated in summer 2027.
Alcove Avenue will initially be built as a three-lane roadway, designed to meet current traffic needs while allowing for continued growth in the area. The project has also been designed with the ability to expand to five lanes in the future, ensuring the corridor can accommodate increased traffic as development continues.
In addition to expanding transportation capacity, the project includes significant drainage improvements to better manage stormwater in the area. Enhanced drainage infrastructure will help reduce localized flooding concerns, protect nearby properties, and support long-term roadway durability.
The new roadway will serve as an important connection within the community and will improve access to U.S. Highway 62/82, one of the primary transportation routes serving Wolfforth and the surrounding region. In addition to improving mobility for residents, the corridor is expected to support future commercial and residential development along the area.
As Wolfforth continues to experience steady growth, infrastructure investments like Alcove Avenue help ensure the city is prepared for new development and investment while maintaining efficient transportation for residents, businesses, and visitors. By planning ahead and designing roadways with future expansion in mind, the city is taking a proactive approach to managing growth and supporting long-term economic development.
Lonestar Dirt and Paving was selected following the city’s competitive bidding process and was chosen based on qualifications, experience, and overall value for the project.
Residents can expect to begin seeing early construction activity this spring as crews mobilize and begin initial work on the roadway. While construction will take time, the finished project will help improve traffic flow, increase connectivity within the city, and create new opportunities for development along the corridor.
City officials appreciate the community’s patience during construction and look forward to the long-term benefits the Alcove Avenue project will bring to Wolfforth. The Alcove Avenue project represents another step forward as Wolfforth continues to invest in infrastructure that supports responsible growth and economic opportunity for the community.
