Press Release – City of Wolfforth
The City of Wolfforth is proud to announce that S&P Global has reaffirmed the City’s strong AA credit rating with a stable outlook, reflecting continued confidence in Wolfforth’s financial stability and long-term management practices.
An AA rating is the third-highest bond rating available from S&P Global, surpassed only by AA+ and AAA. These ratings are typically achieved only by much larger cities, making Wolfforth’s accomplishment especially noteworthy. In fact, Wolfforth is one of only three Texas cities with fewer than 10,000 residents to hold a rating of AA or higher.
In its report, S&P highlighted the City’s conservative budgeting practices and strong management team, which have allowed Wolfforth to pursue substantial Capital Improvement Projects without weakening financial performance or depleting reserves. The City also consistently maintains its fund balance above the 25% target set to safeguard against unforeseen challenges. Given Wolfforth’s history of positive operations and continued revenue growth, S&P expects financial stability to remain strong in the years ahead.
The AA rating is recognized nationally as very high, demonstrating Wolfforth’s exceptional creditworthiness compared to other U.S. municipal or tax-exempt issuers.
“It’s virtually unheard-of for a city Wolfforth’s size to attain a bond rating this high, and I couldn’t be more proud of our City Council and staff who have worked so hard to get us here,” said Randy Criswell, City Manager. “This rating is a validation of everything we’re doing in Wolfforth.”
